Brigade of Love: A Warm, Bold Display Font for Handmade Brands

I was halfway through designing a new batch of soy candle labels—amber glass jars, kraft paper wraps, soft linen twine—when I paused. The scent notes were perfect (“vanilla bean + cedar + sea salt”), but the typography felt off. Too stiff. Too generic. That’s when I opened Brigade of Love.

Right away, it felt like a friend walking into the studio—friendly, grounded, and full of quiet confidence. Brigade of Love is a thick-lettered display font with generous curves, open counters, and just enough personality to stand out without shouting. It’s not fussy or overly ornate, but it’s never flat either. There’s warmth in the rounded terminals, strength in the bold weight, and approachability in the even spacing—even at small sizes.

I tested it on a 1.5-inch oval sticker for a lavender-honey candle. Printed on matte vinyl and cut on my Cricut Maker, Brigade of Love held up beautifully: no broken serifs, no fuzzy edges, no lost detail. The letters stayed crisp and legible, even with the subtle texture of the sticker material. That’s rare for a display font—and it’s why Brigade of Love works so well for real handmade products, not just mockups.

It shines brightest where you need impact and heart: on greeting cards with hand-lettered vibes, wedding welcome boards that feel both elegant and easygoing, boutique clothing tags stitched onto organic cotton tees, and printable wall art designed for cozy nurseries or sunlit home offices. I’ve used it for seasonal digital downloads too—think holiday gift tag bundles, planner cover pages for January launches, and printable “You’re Invited” templates for baby showers. Each time, Brigade of Love gave the design a gentle lift—like swapping a plain mug for one with a perfectly weighted handle.

Because it’s built as a display font, Brigade of Love isn’t meant for long paragraphs or body text. But that’s exactly what makes it so useful for makers. It’s ideal for short, meaningful phrases: product names (“Hearth & Honey”), shop slogans (“Made With Care”), event titles (“Summer Solstice Gathering”), or even single words like “Joy”, “Rooted”, or “Dear”. On tote bags, it wraps cleanly around curved seams. On mugs, it reads clearly from across the room. And on packaging—especially uncoated paper or textured cardstock—it adds tactile sophistication without needing foil or embossing.

Readability matters most when your font hits the cutting mat or the printer. Brigade of Love includes clean outlines and consistent stroke widths, making it highly compatible with Silhouette Studio and Cricut Design Space. I always check the vector preview before sending to cut—especially for tiny stickers (under 0.75”)—and Brigade of Love consistently renders without thin hairlines or fragile joins. For printed cards or tags, I use the OTF version and export PDFs with embedded fonts to keep kerning intact across devices.

Pairing Brigade of Love is intuitive. I often set it against a relaxed sans serif—think Montserrat Light or Poppins Regular—for contrast that feels balanced, not jarring. On wedding invitations, I’ll combine it with a delicate script font for names and a simple serif (like Lora) for addresses—Brigade of Love anchors the suite with presence, while the supporting fonts add grace and rhythm. For farmhouse-style signs or café menus, it pairs beautifully with a sturdy mono-spaced sans or even a subtle handwritten font for chalkboard accents.

Before using Brigade of Love commercially—whether on physical goods, digital templates, or SVG files—I always double-check the license. It includes full commercial rights, multilingual support (including accented characters for French, Spanish, and German), and thoughtful extras: stylistic alternates for “a”, “g”, and “y”, optional swashes for opening letters, and a clean set of numerals and punctuation. No hidden surprises—just design-ready assets that scale across your shop.

I’ve used Brigade of Love on seasonal packaging too—mini gift boxes for spring mini-candles, holiday ornament tags with gold foil accents, and even reusable fabric produce bags printed with “Grow Local” in soft ink. Each time, it reinforced the feeling I want customers to carry away: thoughtfulness, authenticity, and care in every detail.

For printable creators, Brigade of Love adds instant polish to listing previews. When shoppers scroll Etsy or Creative Market, that first glance at your thumbnail matters—and a strong, warm display font like Brigade of Love helps your design feel intentional and cohesive, even at thumbnail size. It tells a story before a single word is read.

What I love most is how Brigade of Love adapts—not by changing shape, but by holding space. It feels equally at home on a rustic wooden sign painted by hand and on a sleek Canva social media graphic. It doesn’t compete with your product; it supports it. Whether you’re labeling a small-batch soap, designing a digital habit tracker, or printing a set of botanical-themed thank-you cards, Brigade of Love brings consistency without repetition, charm without cliché, and clarity without coldness.

If you’re choosing a display font for your handmade brand, ask yourself: Does it reflect the feeling I want people to have when they hold my product? Does it work as hard on a 2-inch sticker as it does on a 24-inch poster? Does it leave room for my voice—not just my visuals—to come through?

Brigade of Love does all three. And sometimes, that’s the quietest kind of magic.
